Your personal allergen safety net.
Allergen Alert is a life-saving companion for anyone living with food allergies, celiac disease, or food intolerances. The app detects all 14 EU-regulated allergens — gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, peanuts, soybeans, milk, tree nuts, celery, mustard, sesame, sulphites, lupin, and molluscs — in any scanned food product, providing instant visual and audio warnings when a dangerous ingredient is detected. For people with severe allergies, where accidental exposure can trigger anaphylaxis, Allergen Alert provides a critical safety layer between the confusing fine print on food labels and your health.
The app features a real-time audio alarm system that activates immediately when a critical allergen from your personal profile is detected in a scanned product. This is especially valuable in noisy supermarket environments or when scanning products quickly — you will hear the alert even if you are not looking directly at the screen. The alarm volume and sensitivity can be customized, and you can set different alert levels for different allergens based on the severity of your individual reactions.
Allergen Alert supports family profiles, allowing you to create and manage allergen profiles for every member of your household. Switch between profiles with a single tap to scan products for different family members — particularly useful for parents managing children's allergies or households where multiple people have different allergen sensitivities. Each profile stores its own allergen configuration, alert preferences, and scan history independently.
The emergency contact database covers 12 countries with local emergency numbers, poison control centers, and allergy-specific hotlines. In the event of accidental allergen exposure, you can access the appropriate emergency number for your current location with a single tap. The app also provides cross-contamination warnings for products manufactured in shared facilities, alerting you to "may contain" risks that are often overlooked but can be dangerous for highly sensitive individuals.
Detects all 14 allergens regulated under EU Regulation 1169/2011 — gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, peanuts, soy, milk, tree nuts, celery, mustard, sesame, sulphites, lupin, and molluscs.

Allergen Alert combines allergen data from Open Food Facts with the regulatory framework established by EU Regulation 1169/2011 on the provision of food information to consumers. Open Food Facts provides detailed ingredient lists and allergen declarations for millions of food products worldwide, sourced from label scanning by a global community of contributors and verified through multiple quality checks.
The allergen detection algorithm goes beyond simple keyword matching — it recognizes allergen derivatives, alternative names, and E-number codes that may indicate allergen presence. The emergency contact database is compiled from official government health services across 12 European countries and is updated annually to ensure accuracy. Cross-contamination data is sourced from manufacturer declarations and food safety inspection records where available.
How Allergen Alert assesses product safety
Excellent — No allergens from your profile detected. No cross-contamination warnings. Product is safe for your specific allergen sensitivities.
Good — No direct allergens detected, but manufactured in a facility that also processes one of your allergens. Low cross-contamination risk.
Moderate — "May contain" warning for one of your allergens due to shared production lines. Exercise caution based on your sensitivity level.
Poor — One or more of your allergens detected in the ingredient list. Product is unsafe for your allergen profile. Audio alarm triggered.
Avoid — Multiple allergens from your profile detected. High severity risk. Immediate audio alarm. Access emergency contacts if exposure occurs.
Grades are personalized based on your allergen profile and calculated by evaluating direct allergen presence in the ingredient list, cross-contamination risks from shared production facilities, and the severity of the match relative to your specific allergen sensitivities. The grading system prioritizes safety — even a single confirmed allergen match results in a D or E grade with an immediate audio alert.
